Abba’s Journey: From Rescue to a Forever Home

Abba’s story is one of resilience, love, and the power of second chances. Despite her challenging circumstances, her strong spirit and bright eyes immediately captured the hearts of the rescue team.

We found Abba laying at the side of the road with a severe injury that did not appear to be recent... She had extensive bruising and a severely bruised leg which was causing her excruciating pain. Our volunteers rushed her to the hospital where after some scans, the specialists let us know that the leg must be amputated in order to save Abba's life... Her care was complex, but our little girl came out of it on the other side. We are lucky to know some brilliant and skilled vets who can tackle challenges like hers. Abba was rather nervous, but we could see she knew we just wanted to help.

After her surgery, Abba needed a place to recover and regain her strength. That’s when she met her foster family. They welcomed her into their home with open arms, knowing that she would require extra care and attention. Abba quickly adapted to her new surroundings, learning to navigate life on three legs with remarkable grace. Her foster family was amazed by her determination and zest for life. She loved playing with her new toys, going on short walks, and snuggling up for cozy naps.

Her foster mum put a lot of work into taking Abba to regular physiotherapy and practicing the exercises at home, to help her spine and strengthen her remaining front leg. It is thanks to her the Abba became such a mobile and happy dog.

Abba’s personality began to shine even brighter. She was no longer just a dog with three legs—she was a beloved member of the community, full of energy and affection -- everyone on the street wanted to say hit to her and were amazed how well she was doing after all that trauma. It was clear that Abba was ready for her forever home, and the search began for a family who could provide her with the love and stability she deserved.

We received an email from a family who was willing to provide a home for a special needs dog, and when we sent them Abba's profile, it was love at first sight. The adoption process was smooth, and soon enough, Abba was on her way to her new life with them in Germany.

Abba’s arrival in Germany was the start of a beautiful new chapter. Her new family welcomed her with joy and excitement, and Abba instantly felt at home. She now spends her days exploring her new surroundings, playing with her furry sibling, and receiving all the love she could ever dream of. Her three legs don’t slow her down; in fact, she’s more active and joyful than ever.

Abba’s journey from a struggling rescue to a cherished family member is a testament to the resilience of animals and the incredible difference that love and care can make. Her story is a happy reminder that every dog, no matter their challenges, deserves a chance at a happy, fulfilling life. And thanks to her foster family and her new family in Germany, Abba is living proof that dreams really do come true.
